Sports merchandise that forced sports fans to recognise saying nothing, supports domestic violence

About

Alarmingly, domestic violence assaults increase by 38.3% in the immediate hours following major sporting events, with 98% of victims women. To target this untapped audience we created Silent Supporterwear. A merchandise brand that warns sport fans knowing about domestic abuse and staying silent, supports violence to continue. 

Each piece in the range represented a different trait of domestic violence, ultimately educating our audience – saying nothing, makes you a supporter. Via an e-commerce platform fans virtually ‘tried on’ domestic violence traits, seeing just how unfashionable, and unacceptable they really are. From intimidation in intimate relationships, to what experiencing emotional abuse feels like – a wide range of issues were exposed.

The merchandise was advertised like any other sports brand; via an eCommerce platform and targeted social posts. Each piece educated fans on lesser knows traits of domestic violence, from financial and emotional control, to intimidation and isolation. As well as behaviours to look out for, as well as how to get advice, support and help.
